Why South East should wait for another five years, by Atiku Committee

He argued that waiting till 2027 would afford the North the opportunity to complete former President Umaru Musa Y’Ardua’s tenure, who died in office and was succeeded by former President Goodluck Jonathan. Dokpesi stated this in Umuahia at the Abia State Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), when he and members of the committee met party members to solicit support for Atiku’s 2023 presidential bid. Panic in Cross River over expiration of ultimatum to release Kanu

There is panic in Cross River State over heavy military presence at Bakassi as Biafra Nations League’s (BNL) threat to release Nnamdi Kanu and others expires today. The heavy military presence might not be unconnected to the ultimatum by BNL to the Federal Government to release the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other supporters of BNL, who are in custody before January 23, 2022. The heavy military presence is in Bakassi Local Council, especially Ikang waterways and the welcome to Bakassi area where the group reportedly seized control and hoisted the Biafran flag in November 2021. Also in response, the Cameroonian authority has deployed men of the Rapid d’intervention Battalion (BIR) to the ceded Bakassi Peninsula as a result of the threat, but the BNL said it would not be threatened by the forces deployed to the area.
