Panic in Cross River over expiration of ultimatum to release Kanu

There is panic in Cross River State over heavy military presence at Bakassi as Biafra Nations League’s (BNL) threat to release Nnamdi Kanu and others expires today. The heavy military presence might not be unconnected to the ultimatum by BNL to the Federal Government to release the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other supporters of BNL, who are in custody before January 23, 2022. The heavy military presence is in Bakassi Local Council, especially Ikang waterways and the welcome to Bakassi area where the group reportedly seized control and hoisted the Biafran flag in November 2021.  The Anambra State Police Command has said it would tackle members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) over threats to citizens of the state to stay at home every Monday until its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, is released.  State police commissioner, CP Chris Awolabi, who spoke to DAILY POST on phone yesterday, said he and his men are aware of the order by the IPOB, but are working underground to thwart it. He said he is not used to doing his work in the open, but believes in covert operations. “If you are in Anambra, you will know what we have been doing. IPOB is a proscribed group, what do you want me to say about them. We are working. “I do not believe in coming to the media to do my work, but if you are in Anambra, you would have seen what we are doing. We are working on that,” he said.  The Anambra State Government has threatened not to pay August Salary to any worker who abstains from work on Monday in obedience to IPOB sit-at-home directive. The Anambra State Government has threatened not to pay August Salary to any worker who abstains from work on Monday in obedience to IPOB sit-at-home directive. This is contained in a public announcement by the Head of Service, Barry Harry Uduh on Sunday. Uduh directed Commissioners and permanent secretaries to monitor the situation and report accordingly. The announcement reads: “The Government of Anambra State has directed that all workers in the State must attend to their duties on Monday 9th August 2021 as failure to do so will result in severe sanctions including loss of Salary for the month of August. “All Hon. Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries are to monitor and report compliance please. Kindly give this information the widest publicity in your Establishment.”
A Man Arrested For Allegedly Procuring Abortion For His Girlfriend Which Caused Her Death. A 50-year old man, Wisdom Okoro, has been arrested for procuring abortion pills for his girlfriend which led to her death. Police operative attached to the Ikorodu Division of the Lagos State Police Command arrested the suspect on April 11, 2021, for the sudden death of his girlfriend, identified as Enobong Udoh, 38yrs. One Blessing Pius, reported to the police that Enobong Udoh was found dead in her house along Igbogbo Road, Ikorodu, on April 11, 2021 at about 10am. The police operatives immediately invited her boyfriend, Wisdom Okoro, for interrogation where he confessed that the deceased informed him that she was pregnant in February,2021 and he was in her house to check on her on Saturday, April10, 2021, at about 5:14pm.
